Architectural Technician / Technologist – Navan

The Architectural Technician / Technologist will work closely with and report to the Architect.

Job Overview

The role will require working closely with an Architect in a busy, family practice based in Navan, Co. Meath, dealing mainly with residential development but also office, retail, light commercial and agricultural projects.  Ideal candidate will have 2 – 5 years experience as an Architectural Technician / Technologist, have an excellent knowledge of current Irish Building Regulations with the ability to assess, understand and communicate changes to Building Regulations as they arise.  The role will include assisting the Architect in preparing statutory applications, tenders, construction drawings and site work.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare planning stage drawings from Architects preliminary drawings
  • Prepare planning applications including research of development plan and planning/design guidance documents
  • Prepare fire safety certificate and disability access certificate drawings, technical reports and applications
  • Prepare tender and construction stage drawings
  • Demonstrate compliance with Building Regulations
  • Assist Architect with site inspections


  • Relevant third level qualification
  • 2 – 5 years experience in the role
  • Strong working knowledge of Irish Building Regulations
  • Experience preparing planning applications, fire safety certification applications, disability access certificate applications
  • Experience preparing tender and construction stage drawings
  • Experience inspecting works on site preferable but not essential
  • Strong Autocad skills required. Revit and DEAP experience an advantage.

Salary: €25,000 – €35,000 D.O.E.

This role will be directly responsible for:

  • Managing & Supervising all crew in the yard to ensure they are efficiently time managed.
  • Vehicle Responsibility.
  • To ensure all crew have the correct equipment for the day – Supervise / mentor crews under your supervision.
  • This role has the potential to develop into an overall managerial role as company grows.


  • Fleet Management – Monitoring of maintenance vehicles. Report & investigate any vehicles issues.
  • Discuss any technical issue in relation to Fieldmotion. (app on phones for job sheets)
  • 1st point of contact if there is an issue with vehicles & machinery – Resolve crew issues on daily basis (under your supervision)
  • Ensure crews leave yard at designated time.
  • Report faults with machinery, running low on consumables – Petrol / Diesel / 2 Stroke / Chemical / Bin Liners.
  • To ensure all vehicles are ready for use each day.
  • Ensure work vehicles are clean & tidy according to company policy.
  • Evolve to Manager – Visiting sites.


  • Obtain strong problem solving skills & be flexible in your approach to work.
  • Excellent planning & time management skill in order to structure your day to work to your maximum ability.
  • Lead by example.

Ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of general building services; electrical, air con, BMS, trend controls, boilers etc. Excellent communication skills are needed as you will be required to attend site meetings, liaise with clients and other staff. Some HVAC design experience and CAD ability would be an advantage as well as good computer literacy.
